I am Butch Yulo, the husband, the construction management consultant. My wife is Mylene, she's the architectural designer. Together we work as a team. She designs and I get it done.
MYLENE
Mylene is a graduate of Sts. Scholastica Academy High School in Bacolod City. That's when we met, just before her graduation. (She designed an A Frame house for me to build up on the coffee plantation) Then she took up architecture in Sto. Thomas University until I proposed to her. She accecpted and and went back to settle with me in Bacolod City where we built our first house. She continued her architecture in La Consolacion College and was twice interrupted to give birth to my two children. (Don't ask when was this)
Later we moved to Brunei where we stayed for nine (9) years. She continued her studies by correspondence while teaching our two kids at home (we believe in home school). She got her diploma in Architectural Design through correspondence accredited in Scranton, Pennsylvania. While accomplishing her diploma, we started to get things done through computers since I worked in a firm who is the authorized distributor for Autodesk. With that, we did CADD projects together, she designed and I provided the technical requirements.
Then she decided to work full time, having the kids out of home school now. She initially worked with a U.K. Interior designer of the second palace of the Sultan of Brunei. Later she moved on and worked for one of my customer (our firm provides total solutions for CADD). The new job allowed her to work on one of the grandeous project of Brunei which included the Brunei International School where she spent most of her last year there.
BUTCH
Graduated with a Masters Degree in Management after seven (7) years in the United States where I also took up my undergraduate studies. I have always been interested in construction as I would watch our carpenter most of the day when I was a small kid. At one point envied my classmate in high school when I saw him with his T square and slide rule. I always wanted to work with those. I never would have known it that computers replaced all those tools. I enjoy working with my computer working on architectural designs from 2D to 3D renderings and walk throughs.
I worked in information technology as a technical operations manager while in Brunei. Our company provided systems solutions for customers that varied from government to private companies to oil and gas companies. We were involved in working solutions for computerisation of their business needs, and we got into banking, finance, survey mapping, CADD, police, military, land transportation, immigration, ports, real time monitoring and control applications, training. and almost anything you could think a rich country would need and would buy computer systems no matter the costs.
I enjoyed most especially CADD applications as it brings me close to my interests. What I couldn't afford to specialise, I mentored Mylene into doing. To this day, if you come over, we have three sets of PC's networked together for our home office. Mylene now does a lot of work on it for design, as I take up on the spreadsheets and word processors and a very neat accounting software that we use to keep tract of costs and make reports to clients. We are very particular that all of the costs are accounted for and reported weekly.
