International School

JERUDONG (BRUNEI)

Mylene worked for an architectural firm in Brunei and was responsible for drafting the specs for this school. It's a huge complex for a school with a capacity of 5,000 students. This was conceived as a shool for Brunei and other neighboring countries.

DESIGN

The design was done by Y.K. Lim, Mylene's boss. Mylene came up with most of the plans and all the details of the different requirements of the classrooms. There were hours of planning together with the teachers who were all from New Zealand with their new concept of teaching. This is where Mylene learned most of her architectural design concept along with every aspect of construction including all the details of all the discipline that make up the construciton industry.

CONSTRUCTION

Heavy equipment and imported manpower made all these possible. The construction took two years, and just as we it finished and opening up a new semester we were making our move in leaving Brunei for Palawan. (June 1997).

UNIQUE

All the rooms were carefully planned and designed for its occupants which even has a miniturized toilets for little toddlers. The swimming pool is large enough to cater for a sailing class which was part of the curriculum.

OVERALL

Great project to learn by. Now it is one of the most expensive school in Brunei. But still, it would be about the same as you would if you were to send your child to a foreign country to study, as some Bruneians do.
