We were dealers of M2 Technology for Palawan, and it so happens that some aquaintance heard that we were building houses out of polystyrene core, they were intrigued by the prospect of building with the M2 technology for a beach house they have been envisioning. This seems to fit it their construction concern of having to bring bulky building materials such as concrete hollow blocks to the island. Polystyrene were light weight and ideal for shipping on a small boat to the island.
DESIGN
We designed to fit three families. It's actually one family with two children who have their own familites. That means, grandpa, grandma, the children and grandchildren. Lots of view of the ocean and ideally facing slightly off to the west to catch that momentous sunset. We designed to allow it to sprawl through the environment surrounded with coconut trees.
CONSTRUCTION
The construction aspect were handled by the owners. We assisted all through the stucutrual aspect of how to connect all those polystyrene panels. Each panel were ordered to size and fitted without shortage or waste. The roof was also made of polystyrene core and concreted. In addition, the roof was wrapped up with native material "tadtad" to cover the concrete.
UNIQUE
It's the transporting of the polystyrene that made the whole process light and easy.
OVERALL
The house is cool. We noticed it was cooler to get inside the house than to hangout at the balcony. The families enjoyed this beach house and I hear they're there every weekend.
