Having the opportunity of holding in possession of four thousand square meters of property, our friend approached us that she wanted to build houses for friends she met along the way. One freind led to another and the whole lot was subdivided to fit 20 houses.
We made two models, the Ramona and the Attica.
Model: RAMONAModel: ATTICA
DESIGN
Initially the plan was for a low cost housing that it would be so affordable to almost anyone starting out as a family or single professional. We came up with two model house. A two bedroom, one bathroom house called Ramona; it's a single storey house that ended up dressed up from the floor up. We finished with floor tiles and long span roof, full paint with choice of color. We made it to cost just about right. As an option, we designed the Attica which has an option small bedroom on the ground floor and the whole upstairs for another. It has a 25sqm foot print but has room of twice that having an attic useful for a large bedroom.
CONSTRUCTION
We needed to build as fast as the housing loans where being processed. We scheduled to build each house in one month in a series. The plan was to build twenty houses in twenty months. But it seems slow, so we ended up finishing in 14 months. Each house finished in less than a month average.
UNIQUE
It's like a small family compound as the whole subdivision is enclosed with concrete fence. A mini subdivision with the same security you get from a large subdivision, even better.
OVERALL
The whole idea of building houses in conjunction with one another is fun, having in mind how each neighbor would be spreading about in their own property area. It's like building a huge building with many different subdivided compartments that needs to be integrated to the whole. It's nice to see the houses identical but unique in its color scheme all lined up.
